Modern Website Design and Development

Now days every business has a website or at least should. A website is your companies key to the future of commerce. Websites need to stand out among competitors. A website needs to be designed aesthetically and developed functionally. I do both.

Modern website design and development

A modern website can no longer look like a Lovecraftian horror from the mid 90’s. Now days modern websites need to have 2 key ingredients to give visitors the best possible experience. They need to have a mixture of Design and Development. These two contributing factors make up the from and the back of a modern website. They make up the careful balance between Functionality and Aesthetics that creates the best user experience possible.

Modern website Design

What was the best website you have ever seen?  There are usually 3 answers to this question. It looks really good, all the information is easily accessed and there is plenty of unique features. Website design is about addressing these three aspects. A good looking website is actually the first impression you get. Its the first 10 seconds of entering the landing page making this one of the most important aspects. The first impression is followed by the intent of the website which requires easily accessed information. The opening statement needs to tell the visitor exactly what they are going to expect. If its a clothing website, the first thing they need to see is a carousel of product announcements followed by the brands mission to become the best in their field. A modern website also needs to also have a degree of interaction through unique features. Being able to do an image compare makes a weight loss product stand out more with a slider for example.

Customisation

Many modern developers choose to utilize visual page builders over traditional code. They are easier to use and can make a website look good quickly. The problem is that they don’t allow many custom features. Throughout my journey as a website developer I choose to integrate both the visual builder Elementor and my own custom coding techniques to make the websites I work on totally unique. This mean that the websites I design not only look custom made they are also easy to update and change by other people.

Constant Activity

Websites that are developed now days need to have constant activity. They require regular updates to make sure that everything will continue to work together.  I make it one of my prime directives as a developer to make sure that the websites I work on are regularly updated. This will prevent the website from falling behind your competition. I also charge a reduced hourly rate for any changes required.

Software

Another major part of the back end development of a website is the software in the forms of plugins required to optimise its functionality. I always make an effort to download only the most necessary software that is not only useful in my development process but also free to reduce costs.
